BROMSKIRCHEN

State:Hessen
District (Kreis):Waldeck-Frankenberg
Additions:1972 Somplar

Wappen von Bromskirchen/Arms (crest) of Bromskirchen
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 12, 1982.

The right half of the arms shows a sword with a cross. The sword is used as a symbol for the local patron saint, St. martin. The cross is a canting element, for the -kirchen (church) part of the name. The left half is taken from the arms of the Lords of Winter, who ruled the area from the 15th until the 18th century. The black and silver colours are those of the County of Battenberg, to which the territory historically belonged.
