Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 16, 1929.

The placename "Rottofreno" is said to come from a historical event occurred during the battle of Trebbia between the Romans and the Carthaginians. Hannibal, the leader of the latter, would have been forced to stop in the village because of the break of his horse bit. That's why the arms show the head of a horse with a broken bit.
