Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on August 6, 1992.
The red eagle is the arms of the Margraves of Brandenburg, who ruled the area for many centuries, and symbolises at the same time the present State of Brandenburg. The swan represents the Havelland area, characterised by lakes. Both the eagle and the swan were also part of the arms of the Osthavelland district before 1945.
The oak leaf represents the local forests, in which oaks are a typical tree.
