Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 22, 1952.

The arms are based on a seal dating from around 1500. The upper half shows an abbott and refers to the fact that the village was a posession of the Münsterschwarzach Abbey from 1306-1803. The meaning of the stars is not known.

The colours were not historically known, but the upper half shows the colours of the Abbey, the lower the colours of the Franken region.
