Origin/meaning

The first arms of Ludwigsfelde date from 1965 and show a cogwheel for the local car industry, an apartment building for the rapid growth of the town and in base a pilon for the highway bridge. The colours were those of the East German flag, see below.

The current arms were granted in 1993 and show a pine tree, a typical tree for the region. The cogwheel remained and as additional symbol an eagle's claw was added. This is taken from the arms of the von der Gröben family, who had their estate in Gröben.
