SCHLEID

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm (until 1970 Bitburg)
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Bitburger Land (until 2014 Verbandsgemeinde Bitburg-Land)

Wappen von Schleid (bei Bitburg)/Arms (crest) of Schleid (bei Bitburg)
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 10, 1993.

The arms show the Schleid stream that runs through the village. The stream historically was the border between the possessions of the Archbishops of Trier and the Abbey in Prüm. Both ruled the area for about 1000 years until the 19th century. The two rulers are symbolised by two crosiers, for the archbishops and the abbotts.
