State : Schleswig-Holstein
District (Kreis) : Nordfriesland (until 1974 Südtondern)
Amt : Amt Landschaft Sylt

Wappen von Hörnum/Arms (crest) of Hörnum
Official blazon

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 4, 1982.

The arms show the lighthouse in the municipality, which is one of the largest in Germany and was built in 1907. The horn in the lower part of the arms is canting for the name, as well as for the shape of the municipality. The colours are the colours of (Nord-)Friesland.
