NO 440 SQUADRON, ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE
(Badge) |
(Standard) |
Official blazon
Badge: A bat displayed Gules surmounting a cloud Argent.
Motto: KA GANAWAITAK SAGUENAY.
Origin/meaning
The bat suggests night flying and the use of radar, while the cloud symbolizes poor visibility. They both refer to the role as an all-weather fighter squadron in 1950s and 1960s. The Motto in Innu translates “He who protects the Saguenay”.
