Escudo de Olesa de Montserrat/Arms (crest) of Olesa de Montserrat
Official blazon
Catalan Escut caironat truncat: 1r. d'or, una olivera arrencada de sinople fruitada de sable; 2n. de gules, un mont de 7 penyes d'or movent de la punta somat d'una serra també d'or. Per timbre una corona mural de vila.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms have been officially granted on 17th June 1986.

The arms are canting; they show an olive tree (the name Olesa is related popularly to "oli", Catalan for oil; also the oil from Olesa had a huge reputation: in 1929 it received the Golden Medal of the Barcelona International Exhibition) and the arms of the monastery of Montserrat: a mountain with a saw (Montserrat meaning literally in Catalan "sawed mount"). The town belonged to the monastery since 1359.
