Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 8, 1979.

The upper part of the arms shows the eagle taken from the arms of the Lords of Dahn. The lower part refers to the hills and the many castles and estates in the region. The wavy bar refers to the many small streams and rivers in the area. The bordure is a common symbol for a Verbandsgemeinde.
