On a yellow circle 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in diameter, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, the stylized head of an American Indian warrior. The warrior’s face is gold brown, feathers and jewelry white detailed blue with the inscription “INDIAN” on the left and “LAND” on the right of the warrior’s head in blue letters.
Origin/meaning
Gold and blue are the school colors. An American Indian warrior is the school’s mascot and represents the Catawba Indian Nation that occupied much of the State of South Carolina. The shoulder sleeve insignia approved on 3 January 2002 was amended 11 May 2006 to correct the description.
