Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted in March 1996.
A golden peacock on a cannonball reminds to the legend, according to which the city was saved from Turkish siege by firing peacocks instead of cannonballs. The stars are taken from the Ernust family arms. Sigismund Ernust, ban (viceroy) of Dalmatia, Croatia and Slavonia since 1494 rebuild the fortress of Djurdjevac to its present shape.
