Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1920.

In 1237 the Teutonic Order built the castle Kreutzburg, called Krustpils by Latvians. The town is first time mentioned in 1511.

After the independence of Latvia the city rights and arms were granted in 1920: a castle wall with cross.
