Region : Catalonia
Province : Tarragona

Escudo de Mas de Barberans

Official blazon

Escut caironat: de gules, un mas d'argent tancat de sable sobremuntat d'una flor de lis d'argent. Per timbre, una corona mural de poble.

Origin/meaning

These arms were officially granted on January 12, 1994.

Canting arms: they show traditionally a "mas" (Catalan for "farmhouse"). The fleur-de-lis is the attribute of the Virgin Mary, and reminds the former denomination of the village, El Vilar de Santa Maria. The colours, Gules and Argent, are the ones of the arms of Tortosa, because Mas de Barberans belonged since the 12th century to the bishops of this city.
