Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on August 13, 1938 and reconfirmed on October 22, 1991.
The lion is the lion of the County of Meissen, as the district historically belonged to Meissen. The pale is taken from the arms of the former territory of Landsberg. The stars are taken from the arms of the Eilenburg Estate.
