Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 20, 1995.

The upper half shows the two rivers in the municipality, the Rottenbach and the Rinne. The third quarter shows a column, which is typical for the style of the Paulinzella abbey in the municipality. The fourth quarter symbolises the many historical water mills in the area. The colours of the third quarter are derived from the Schwarzburg County to which the area historically belonged.
