HEROLDSBERG
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Erlangen-Höchstadt (until 1973 Erlangen)
Additions : 1978 Großgeschaidt, Kleingeschaidt
German |
In Blau zwischen drei zwei zu eins gestellten, silbernen Sternen ein herschauender, rot gezungter goldener Löwenkopf. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
Heroldsberg received arms in 1417 from King Sigismund of Bohemia.
The three stars are derived from the arms of the Geuder family, who owned the town at the time. The lion most likely is the lion of Bohemia. The arms were officially adopted again in 1937, as in the 19th century the local seal showed a herald on a mountain (as canting elements).
