Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1927 and shows the gate which connects the two wings of the castle of the Counts of Erbach-Fürstenau. The gate was built in 1588. The castle is one of the main buildings in the town. The star and the colours are derived from the arms of the Counts of Erbach, who ruled the area from the 12th century until 1806.
