1ST SPECIAL OPERATIONS FORCE SUPPORT SQUADRON, US AIR FORCE

History: Apparently constituted as Air Base Squadron, 15 Air Base Group, and activated, on 25 September 1940. Redesignated as: 16 Air Base Squadron on 17 January 1941; 16 Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron on 14 July 1942. Inactivated on 1 October 1945. Disbanded on 8 October 1948. Reconstituted, and redesignated as 16 Air Base Squadron on 31 July 1985. Consolidated (1 October 1993) with the 1 Special Operations Mission Support Squadron, which was constituted on 23 February 1993. Activated on 24 March 1993. Redesignated as: 16 Mission Support Squadron on 1 October 1993; 1 Special Operations Mission Support Squadron on 16 November 2006; 1 Special Operations Force Support Squadron on 20 June 2008.
