The arms were officially granted on September 3, 1974.
Söll was already mentioned as a parish in the 8th century and is thus one of the oldest in Tirol. The oldest known seal of a parish priest dates from 1287. It is the canting seal of Heinrich von Habichaue, showing a hawk (Habicht). This seal was the base of the arms of Söll.
