MAKARSKA

County : Split-Dalmatia

Coat of arms (crest) of Makarska

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on August 12, 1993.

The arms show a hand holding a sabre and a star. The meaning thereof is not known. It is the modernization of the coat of arms shown in Fojnica Armorial of the 16th century and is also preserved in a stone carving on the Venetian fountain of the 17th century in the middle of the city.
