В лазоревом поле серебряный безант, поверх которого три чешуйчатых нитевидных пояса, серебряных в лазури и лазоревых в серебре, и поверх всего - три отвлеченных черных скалы, одна позади другой, правая впереди и выше всех, левая позади и ниже всех; все сопровождено во главе - серебряным вензелем Императора Александра II, в оконечности - разорванной пополам серебряной цепью с кандалами.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on April 12, 2010.
In the upper part of the coat of arms the monogram of Czar Alexander II is shown, after which the town Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinsky was named. It was founded in the 19th century as a trading post. Later it became the administratiev center for prison camps in the area. This is symbolised by the chains, which are broken to symbolise freedom.
The centre of the arms show the Three Brothers, a typical landmark in the area in front of the sun.
The arms were redesigned from the previous arms, which were granted on March 28, 2007.
