History: Constituted as 42 Communications Squadron, Command, on 18 Oct 1949. Activated on 17 Nov 1949. Redesignated as 42 Communications Squadron, Air Force, on 24 Sep 1951. Inactivated on 1 Jan 1960. Disbanded on 15 Jun 1983. Reconstituted, and redesignated as 42 Combat Communications Squadron, on 11 Jul 1989. Activated on 1 Oct 1989. Inactivated on 1 Oct 1990. Activated on 1 Oct 2009. Redesignated as 42 Cyberspace Operations Squadron on 12 Aug 2016.
