Escudo de prata, castelo de azul, aberto e lavrado do campo, entre dois tufos de canas de verde, tudo movente de uma campanha de burelas ondeadas de azul e prata, em chefe, à dextra, cruz da Ordem de Santiago, de vermelho e, à sinistra, ramo de oliveira de verde, frutado de negro, com duas vergônteas laterais formando uma cruz. Coroa mural de prata de quatro torres. Listel branco com a legenda a negro, em maiúsculas : “ CANHA “.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 3, 1997.
The reeds (canas) are a canting element and refer to the reeds that could be found in the parish. The castle refers to the castle that once stood in the village. the cross is the Order of Santiago, as the parish belonged to the Order for a long time. The olive branches refer to the local patron saint, St. Mary of the Olives, as well as to the main agricultural crop in the parish. The base shows the local river.
