Miesenbach bei Birkfeld
MIESENBACH BEI BIRKFELD
State : Steiermark
District : Weiz
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 9, 1977.
The arms consist of two fields: The plough-shares are there in honour of St. Kunigunde, Empress, who is the patron saint of the parish-church. She was suspected of infidelity and subjected to an ordeal involving red-hot ploughshares (I think, she had to walk over them or to carry them for a certain time). With the help of God, she suffered no burns and was thus found innocent.
The house represents a small fortified manor mentioned in the Middle Ages. The house is designed in the traditional manner of the region.
