RAMSDORF
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Borken
Amt : Amt Velen-Ramsdorf (until 1957 Amt Ramsdorf)
Additions : 1959 Kirchspiel Ramsdorf
Incorporated into : 1974 Velen
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms show a canting block (Ram). This symbol was already used in the oldest seal of the city dating from the 14th century. The symbol never changed during the centuries, although it started to look more like a big bell than a ram. When the cross was added is not clear.
