Origin/meaning

The arms of Weidenau were granted on May 10, 1939.

The municipality of Weidenau was created from the village of Weidenau together with sich small hamlets around iron factories and one around a iron furnace. The iron factieries and -industry is symbolised by the factory in the upper part of the arms. The lower half shows a canting willow (Weide=willow) with 8 branches, one for each of the settlements. The wavy bar symbolises the Sieg and Ferndorf rivers.
