Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 10, 1992.

In the municipality, there is quite a lot of small manors. So a manor or small castle was put into the arms along with a tree trunk, which is a reference to the name of the village. The name Stocking derives from the medieval times, when settlers cut their homesteads out of the woods during the so-called Landesausbau (lit. "building of the land"). Such names (Rodungsnamen) are frequently met with in Austria.
