Origin/meaning

The thunderbird’s head evokes the unit’s role of providing protection, wise counsel and direction. The laurel branches symbolize the quest for excellence. Motto: Meaning “Excellence, duty, truth”. Original concept of Captain Dennis Bates, assisted by the heralds of the Canadian Heraldic Authority.

The badge was approved on February 20, 2009.
