Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on May 27, 1955.
The arms in the upper part a crosier, taken symbolising the Hornbach abbey, to which the village belonged until 1560. The two so-calles wolf's-hooks are taken from border stones and are the symbols of Pfalz-Zweibrücken (gold/black) and Nassau-Saarbrücken (gold/blue) as the village belonged to the Counts of Pfalz-Zweibrücken from 1560-1755 and from 1755-1803 to Nassau-Saarbrücken. The division of the shield indicates that the village was situated on the border of Bayern (Pfalz), Prussia and France from 1815-1918.
