Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1937, and show the conjunction of the Urft and Olfe rivers, making it a canting symbol (Gemünd is derived from Mouth of the river).

The escutcheon shows the arms of the Counts (later Dukes) of Jülich, as the area became part of Jülich in 1371.
