Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 3, 1997.
The castle represents the Fria Castle, a large medieval castle which has been excavated and which is part of the parish. The crown is a symbol of the local patron saint, St. Mary.
The cron cobs are a symbol of the agricultural characted of the municipality, where corn is one of the main crops. The base symbolises the Cávado river that runs through the parish.
