Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 21, 1939.

The arms show the entrance to a mine. Silver and lead mining started in the 16th century and in 1559 Silbach received the status of free mining city (Bergfreiheit). Silbach, however, did not develop into a proper city though. The origin of the arms is not quite clear, the arms are already shown in the local chapel, dating from 1700. In 1939 only the colours and the design were formally described, based on the old image.
