Arvidsja.jpg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1945 and registered in 1974.

The head of the reindeer in the arms af Arvidsjaur comes from the reindeer in the arms of the province of Norbotten in which the municipality is situated. Reindeer herding is also of great local importance. The Big Dipper is chosen to indicate Arvidsjaur as a commune far up north.
