In Blau der silberne, golden nimbierte und gegürtete Erzengel Michael als Kniefigur mit erhobenem Schwert in der rechten und einer Waage mit goldenen Waagschalen in der linken Hand.

Origin/meaning

The arms show the local patron saint, St. Michael. Already in 725 St. Bonifatius founded a St. Michael chapel in the area, around which the city developed. Ever since seals are known for the city (16th century) the saint has been on the seals and arms.
