Gespalten von Silber und Rot; vorn am Spalt ein halber schwarzer Adler mit roter Krone und roter Bewehrung, hinten ein aufgerichteter linksgewendeter goldener Hirsch mit goldener Zunge.

Origin/meaning

The arms probably date from late medieval times and combine the Imperial eagle, with the deer taken from the arms of the medieval Von Hischberg family (Hirsch=deer). The village historically belonged to a large Imperial Estate, hence the use of the eagle. The combination of eagle and deer appeared on the 17^th century seal of the city, but is probably of older origin. Although the colours have changed regularly during the centuries, the composition as such remained the same.
