FANØ

Region : Midtjylland
Amt (until 2007) : Ribe
Additions : 1970 Nordby, Sønderho

Arms of Fanø

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1993.

The arms show two seahorses, typical for this island municipality, which is dependent traditionally on fishing. The seahorses also symbolise the rich nature in the Wadden Sea UNESCO reserve in which the island is situated. The division and number also symbolises the two former parishes/municipalities.
