SANKT MARTIN AM GRIMMING
State : Steiermark
District : Liezen
Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on October 18, 1976.
The sword is an attribute of the local patron-saint. St. Martin was a soldier, but his most famous sword-stroke was the one with which he divided his overcoat to share it with a beggar.
The arms combine the sword with the armorial symbols of the monastery of Admont (in sinister chief) and the nunnery of Göß (in dexter base). Both monasteries owned lands in the municipality.
