MURAU

State : Steiermark
District : Murau

Murau.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on January 4, 1955.

The arms are traditional and correspond to many old city arms (cf. e.g. Salzburg). The main charge is the main characteristic of the medieval town, the fortifications. The small escutcheon in chief bears the arms of the family of Liechtenstein, who were lords of the region in the Middle Ages.
