Green and yellow are the colours traditionally associated with the Military Police Corps. Black alludes to the determination, power and protection. The Green Peaks alludes to the Mountains near
Asheville, N.C. where the Battalion HQ is located. The Scales, Pistol and fasces are taken from the Military Police Regimental Coat of Arms.
The three stars are taken to represent the Military Police Motto: Assist, Protect and Defend. The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 1 September 2003.
