Shield Yellow is the color traditionally associated with Cavalry. The black bendlet stands for integrity and military strength. The Pawnee Indian scout represents Nebraska and the early history of the United States Army Cavalry in that state. Crest The crest is that of the Nebraska Army National Guard. The coat of arms was approved on 16 September 1988.
