Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2,86 cm) in hieght overall consiting a shield blazoned:
Tenné, on a pale cotissed between four lightning flashes in saltire Argent a sword Azure the balde consiting of three jagged bolts of lightning.
Attached below the shield a Silver scroll inscribed "OUTSTANDING" in blue letters.
Origin/meaning
Orange and White are the Colours used by Signal Battalions. The Lightning bolts symbolise Communications. The Cotissed Pale symbolises the Battalion's past mission as a Signal Construction Battalion. The Sword refers both to the tactical and support mission of the Battalion. The Tower symbolise World War II service in the Rhineland and Central Europe. The Cross symbolises the awards of the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and four Meritorious Unit Commendations. The Scimitars indicates service in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
The Coat of Arms and Distictive Unit Insignia was approved on 15 June 1967. The arms were ammended to include a crest on 9 April 1998.
