Crest: From a wreath Or and Gules (Crimson), a wreath of palm Vert banded at the stems Gules and two scimitars saltirewise hilts up superimposed by a mullet of the first bearing a hurt charged with a stylized Spanish caravel Proper.
Motto: Perita cognito (Skill and Knowledge).

Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Gules (Crimson), palewise in pale a pheon point to chief Or, and in dexter chief a vol of the last bearing a gunstone. Attached below the shield, a Gold scroll inscribed "PERITA COGNITO" in Black letters.

Origin/meaning

Crimson and Yellow are the Colours of Ordnance Corps. And together with the winged Gunstone it alludes to the origin as the 782nd Airborne Ordnance Battalion. The Pheon symbolises the Landing in Normandy and the Rhineland where the ancestor 782nd Maintenance Battalion served. The disc with the Caravel indicates serive in the Caribbean, The five pointed Star symbolises the Battalion's five decorations and service in five Wars. The Scimitars indicates service in Southwest Asia. The Palm highlights the tropical nature of Vietnam and the Caribbean.

Ths Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia was both originally approved for the 782nd Airborne Ordnance Battalion on 20 September 1954. They was redesignated for the 782nd Maintenance Battalion on 4 August 1958 and for the 782nd Support Battalion on 16 April 1994. The Coat of Arms was amended to add a Crest on 28 August 1997.
