Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 14, 1994.

The name of the county is derived from the Magdeburger Börde, an area of fertile agricultural lands. The ear and the scythe are symbols of the agriculture in the county. The wavy bend symbolises the many small rivers in the county.
