BREŽICE

Coat of arms (crest) of Brežice
Official blazon
Slovenian blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The original arms were granted on March 29, 1535 by King Ferdinand I and were officially adopted again on September 9, 1991.

The original arms are described as a base of water, from which rises a green three-topped hill, all on a black shield with a golden point. The grant also described that the arms are confirmed, indicating that they were already used previously.
The historical arms as showsn by Kober and Pirchegger (1954):

Widimsky (1864) shows a totally different design, namely three ladders instead of the point and a red field instead of black, see below.
