BREGENZER WALD

State : Vorarlberg
District : Bregenz

Origin/meaning :
The arms were officially granted on February 16, 1929.

The Bregenzer Wald is a large forested area close to the city of Bregenz. The villages in the area were joined as one of the districts (Stände) of Vorarlberg since the 14th century. They had their own court until the late 19th century.

The region already used arms for a long time, showing a pine tree. These were formally granted in 1929, even though the area has no formal status at present. The pine tree is also part of most of the arms in the Bregenzer Wald.
