Description: On a brown horizontal oval a yellow cougar head in trian aspect couped, highlighted white and detailed brown entoured with a white garland between a yellow scroll inscribed “McNAIR” in brown letters above and a yellow scroll inscribed “ACADEMIC” in brown letters below, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) brown border. The overall dimensions are 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height and 2 9/16 inches (6.51 cm) in width.
Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A gold color metal and enamel circular device 1 1/8 (2.86 cm) in diameter overall, consisting of a shield bearing the head of a Cougar, all within a brown colored scroll inscribed “ABOVE THE BEST” in the top segment and “SECOND TO NONE” in the bottom segment, all in gold letters. |
Origin/meaning
Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Gold and brown are the school colors and reflect the cadets’ pride and respect for school, community and country. The cougar, the school mascot, symbolizes aggressiveness in attaining education with honors which is represented by the white garland.
Shoulder Loop Insignia: Brown and yellow are the school’s colors. The Cougar is the school mascot and symbolizes both physical and mental strength, as well as, patience and perseverance
The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia was approved 6 October 1998. The Shoulder Loop Insignia was approved 17 September 2004.
