Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 13, 1932 and reconfirmed in 1988.
Falun became a city in 1641 and the oldest seal dates from 1642 showing a mountain with the symbol of copper above a stream and a city wall. In the 1920s the council wanted to adopt arms and the present arms were designed. The arms are a simplified version of the old seal. The arms combine a city wall with the symbol of copper.
