Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a blue disc edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border a yellow disc between the inscription “GAREY” above and “VIKINGS” arcing below in yellow letters. Overall and between the inscription a white Viking head detailed blue. The overall dimension is 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in diameter.
Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure on a pile Or a Viking helm Azure horned of the second between in dexter a quill bendwise Yellow detailed Blue and in sinister a winged foot shod in sandal bendwise sinister Or. Attached below the shield a Gold scroll turned Blue inscribed “WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE” in Blue letters.
Origin/meaning
Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Blue and yellow are the school colors. The Viking is the school mascot.
Shoulder Loop Insignia: Blue and yellow (gold) are the school colors. The Viking helmet represents the school mascot. The quill and winged foot symbolize the cadets’ academic and athletic endeavors.
The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and Shoulder Loop Insignia was approved on 9 November 1995.
