Wappen von Gossendorf/Arms (crest) of Gossendorf

Official blazon

In Rot ein schrägrechtes goldenes Edelkastanienblatt und ein rechtsgewendeter goldener Winkel.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 13th, 1985.

The arms are based on the coat of arms used by the Winkler auf Hainfeld family, lords of the manor at the beginning of the 16th century, that displayed an angle and a star. To the Winkler, the Winkel (angle) was canting heraldry. The municipality replaced the star with a leaf of the sweet chestnut tree, which grows in the region.
